Returning to New Orleans one year after my first trip was just as difficult of an experience as the first, but for much different reasons. House clean-out work took me much farther from the center of the city, and the scope of not only the areas that had been affected but the lack of progress in rebuilding were infuriating. While some capitalize on the notoriety of the event, others are no closer to the ability to return. This return trip emphasized to me truly how human-created this disaster was and continues to be.
